Haute Savoie, Mont Blanc

Europe's highest summit, the mystical Mont Blanc, overlooks the towns of both Chamonix and Megève. These two towns, only about 35 minutes apart by road, offer the best of two very different types of holidays: High Mountain Adventure and the French Art of Living Well.

Chamonix, surrounded by a panorama of some of the world's most impressive summits has been the capital of mountaineering since its birth in the 18th century. Mountaineering enthusiasts from all over the world come here to experience the spectacular climbing and adventure skiing possibilities. The ambiance of this town is "Haute Montagne" (High Mountain) and we recommend Chamonix as the best place to go for climbing and ski mountaineering. Click here for more on Chamonix.

Megève, developed by the Rothschilds in the early 20th century with the idea of creating one of the most beautiful mountain resorts ever, remains a favorite of the rich and famous. It is a unique and elegant town combining an abundance of luxurious hotels, boutiques and spas, numerous antiques shops, gourmet restaurants, discos and night clubs with an extensive and varied ski terrain. There are many beginner and intermediate runs through Megève's gentle and picturesque tree-lined slopes as well as challenges for experts at the mountain peaks. Come to Megève for a relaxing and sumptuous skiing holiday.
